Find me on Facebook!

You can now email thinktoomuch.net blog posts to your friends. Hope you find the feature useful! The link is currently only on the “index” pages, haven’t figured out where the code has to go for adding links to “individual post pages” (where the comments are seen) yet. (Lack of time.)

I am using GaMerZ’s WP-Email plugin, I don’t know if there is a nicer email plugin. This was the only one on the list of plugins I looked at. (There is more than one list, however.)

The alignment of the little envelope icon might not be ideal, but it should be “good enough”. The other option is to remove the icon and provide text only links. (That’s easy. Adjusting the alignment is something I’m too lazy to do.) However, I think this blog could do with another image or two, lately it’s been all serious-like, and all text.

I thought of adding this Facebook badge to my sidebar, for some permanent “colourfulness”. Stefan suggested people might not take me seriously then, though, based on my current Facebook profile pic. ;) (That can be changed, of course.) Made me wonder about “not being taken seriously” versus “being taken too seriously”. I would think with the subject matter I’m beginning to tackle, I’m more in danger of being taken “too seriously”? Then again, the subject matter is completely serious, it’s more a concern that people think that’s the only side of me that exists.

BTW, I have some CSS problems here. I can’t seem to define the float’s size. All that works, to make the float large enough to show the full size image, is to add some caption text. Try the following: enlarge the size of the text in your browser (in Firefox it’s View->Text Size->Increase). See how the image “stays the same size”. Now shrink the text… when the caption is narrower than the proper image size (120 pixels), the image starts shrinking as well. Well, in Firefox it does, anyway. What do you find in your browser?

It shouldn’t be like this. I did try setting the image width, as well as the floating div’s width using “style=”, still no luck. And no time, so I’ve decided to be satisfied by the ugly hack of adding a silly caption. Should have gone for a more interesting one maybe, like “who’s this clown?”, or one suggestion I’ve received already: “wtf gaan hier aan?”

Hehe, should I consider a little caption competition? ;)

    Hey Hugo

Nice feature, I host on the main wordpress.com domain and have thought about moving to a hosted solution for a while now just because there is so much more you can do to customise your blog.

I think I’d move over to the typo platform though, just because I am such a big fan of rails at the moment and typo is really slick.

On of the biggest pains for me with wordpress is the dumbing down of html and css. Terrible - drives me batty!
